Footprint - Big Band

Footprint was written early in 2001, it is a jazz waltz with swing feel and is funk related in some sections. The piece starts and finishes with unison activity and in two of the sections the melody is carried  out by the bass voices.  Footprint has an optimistic tone to it despite it's minor tonality. It has an upbeat feel with room for improvisation. 

In Bergens Tidende, a Norwegian newspaper they referred to this music as ¨New York style jazz¨ when performed, maybe to do with the references on this piece, who knows?

Performance note - Most of the bass in the piano part is not necessarily meant to be played, it's only indicating what's going on in the bass part, make your own choice.
